Mentoring in schools across Bolton and Bury
Since 1998 we have supported local schools helping them to develop student mentoring programmes. Bolton & Bury EBP recruit, train and support volunteer adults* who meet regularly on a one-to-one basis with a student in school. Mentors primarily offer support to help ‘mentees’ build confidence, increase motivation and make informed choices about their future. Schools identify students who would benefit from this kind of support and invite them to take part in the programme.
| A large proportion of our volunteer adults have been mentoring for many years. They find it hugely rewarding to offer help to a young person in this way. Mentors come from all parts of the community including many local organisations that encourage their employees to take part. |

Our programme has recently been re-accredited with the prestigious Approved Provider Standard by the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation. For further information about this award, click on the Approved Provider logo.
Due to the success of our programmes the demand for mentors is growing rapidly throughout Bolton and Bury. Mentors don't need any qualifications, just a friendly manner, a willingness to listen and an ability to communicate with others. If you feel you could share your experience of business, work and life with a young person, please contact the Mentoring Coordinator on 01204 375790.
